I'm just a guy who has a passion for producing videos that capture the adventure of all forms of cycling (especially fat biking) and other outdoor endurance pursuits. “If It Was Easy Everyone Would Do It” is often heard from those who enjoy meeting difficult challenges and persevering when others might not. This is what motivates me as an endurance junkie and videographer!

2016 Fat Bike Birkie – Fun with over 1000 Fatties!

WOW!  Can the Fat Bike Birkie Race get any Bigger and Better?

Well, this year’s 2016 version was all that and more than the great race I have enjoyed the last two years! It wasn’t just that it has grown to over 1000 racers … the whole weekend experience was enhanced by the new Start/Finish location and venue right in the heart of Cable, Wisconsin, USA.  The locale created a fun ‘carnival’ atmosphere, allowed for more sponsors space (wow – do they have a ton of sponsors – Fat Biking continues to explode!), access to local businesses and a seriously long straight racers line-up and roll out …

While we racers were all a bit nervous about the roll-out road conditions (very icy on the pre-race day), it all turned out well thanks to 3 inches of fresh snow that…

Video Trailer: Winnipeg Whyteout – Fat Forty Festival

Here’s my Trailer for the 2016 Winnipeg Whyteout – Fat Forty Festival, held today 24 Jan 2016 at the Fort Whyte Alive, City Of Winnipeg Nature Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Lots of great fun was had on a challenging fat bike trails with a mix of firm snow packed pathways and softer packed singletrack that required some pushing today due to recent high winds that drifted the open sections. Problem? MEH! We just pressed on and had a blast 🙂
Big thanks to Jaxon Locken of WoodCock Cycleworks, Wayne Bishop of 2 Wheel Revolution, Park City Timers, John Paige our Medic and many many volunteers and of course sponsors!

Just another proud Manitoban Fat Biker

Tom Kolesnik’s Post:

So, it was a great night for fat biking and enjoying the sights in the core of Winnipeg.   I decided to enjoy more riding and stopping occasionally to capture the beauty of the night scenes … starting with the Louis Riel statue by the Manitoba Provincial Legislature:

Wknd Rides 16-17 Jan 16: Fort Whyte Fatness and ACTIF EPICA Recon

Tom Kolesnik posted for Wayne Bishop and Dan Lockery:

YES it’s going to be really cold this weekend … PERFECT! Time to get out there and confirm your frigid weather gear setup, layering, anti-goggle-fogging techniques and how to eat and drink – still (dehydration/bonking are common in extreme cold rides).

So here’s your options:
FORT WHYTE:

ACTIF EPICA:Dan Lockery on AE Recon Ride
Actif Epica Recon Ride with Dan Lockery and Pete McAdams.
Date: Sunday, January 17th, 2016
Time: 9:00am
Location: St-Pierre-Jolys, we will meet in the parking lot of Le Routiere restaurant (next to the Shell station).
Purpose: To scout/preview the Actif Epica course between St. Malo and St- Pierre-Jolys, along the Crow Wing Trail (note: this section is part of both the regular and long version of the route).
Important Note: All participants join us at their own risk (e.g. please be safe, wear appropriate winter riding clothing, a helmet, bring blinky lights for improved visibility, enough food and water for the ride and a basic repair kit). Citing a famous quote, “YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU”, so please respect the nature of a winter riding adventure, it can be unforgiving.
Hope to see you on Sunday!

New Year’s La Salle River Fattie Ride

Tom Kolesnik’s Post:

What better way to ring in 2016 than a great fat bike ride on the La Salle River!

4
I met up with my old riding buddy/new fat biker Brian Dyck, plus Dallas Sigurdur and Dan Lockery, who were finishing their own out & back on the La Salle from La Barriere Park. We three rode to La Barriere on our own, except for a few friendly snowmobilers (thanks for packing the river folks :-)).

The ride back to La Salle on the reverse route was uneventful, except for the crisp bright scenery.
